This is so cool.

My PHP skills are drastically improving. I’ve also learned some WordPress codecs to help me understand how WordPress functions.

I reached out to Shonna, the Co-Founder and President of the code school that got me started, and I asked if there was any way I could speak at an upcoming event.

She was thrilled I was willing to do so. After some discussion, she said she wanted to hire me as an instructor for her intro workshop!

infant smiling with a very wide mouth; very excited.

I start teaching her Intro To Web Development Workshop starting February 15th! I will take very beginners through the frustrating first few days of learning to code from scratch. I’m passionate about teaching, and totally ready to take on a new role. I’ll still be the Project Manager for my current company, and I will start my dream of being the kind of teacher I wish I had when I got started in Web Development.

My degree is in psychology with a focus on cognition, learning, and motivation. So, I fully intend to bring that skillset to the classroom as a teacher, and boy, I can’t wait to get started.

I’m a bit nervous, because there is always a bit of uncomfortableness with the unfamiliarity, but this is what I eventually want to do for my career. I’m so excited that things are happening so quickly for me.

What a day!
